Voce is proud to presents its 2013-2014 season!  Full Circle represents the breadth and depth of the American choral experience, from East to West, North to South, and sea to shining sea. Join us for:

 

Mason-Dixon: Music of the North and South

Saturday, October 19, 2013 – 7:30pm

Come and hear modern takes on Southern comfort and Northern lights.  The program will include contemporary American composers Dan Forrest, James Mulholland, and Robert Young, and the Voce Concert Choir will perform Randall Thompson’s “Alleluia” and Paul Halley’s “Freedom Trilogy.”

 

East Meets West: Music of the East and West Coasts of America

Saturday, November 16, 2013 – 7:30pm

Voce will explore the differences in sound and structure – a fusion of East Side and West Side. The West Coast will be represented by Morten Lauridsen, Ola Gjeilo, Eric Whitacre, and Rene Clausen; the East Coast by Gwyneth Walker, Charles Ives, and Ned Rorem. The Voce Concert Choir will perform Ola Gjeilo’s “Sunrise” from Sunrise Mass.

 

Immortal Bach: Music of Composers Who Admired Bach
Saturday, February 8, 2014 – 7:30pm

For over 250 years, composers have studied and admired Bach’s timeless principles of harmony, counterpoint, and fugue.  Join Voce as we explore Bach’s influence through the lens of the Romantics to 21st century composers. The Voce Concert Choir will perform Johannes Brahms’ “Schicksalslied.”

 

 

 

Life’s a Beach: Music of the Ocean and Water

Saturday, April 12, 2014 – 7:30pm

The might and mystery of the ocean has been an inspiration for artists throughout the ages. In this program, Voce will explore the creative imagery of the sea through poetry and song. Get a jump on summer and plan to attend this unique event. The Voce Concert Choir will perform Eric Whitacre’s “Water Night” and Peter Bagley’s “Didn’t It Rain.”
